It’s that time of year again when the votes have been collated by Skytrax in their annual World Airport Awards.
The World Airport Awards were launched by air transport advisory group SkyTrax in 1999 and the 2015 awards are based on more than 13 million surveys completed by 112 nationalities of airline customers between May and January.
Coming in at No.1 yet again (for the 3rd year in a row) is Singapore Changi Airport. The airport handles 5,000 arrivals and departures a week by 80 international airlines. With world famous shopping, outdoor gardens and waterfalls, a cinema, city tours and relaxation areas, it’s been a favourite with travellers around the world for many years.
Incheon International Airport near Seoul is the No. 2 airport in the world, also for the 3rd year in a row.
I’ve only personally been to 5 out of the 10 in the list below and agree with Singapore being at the top of the list. However, there is absolutely no way I’d be voting Heathrow anywhere in the Top 50! I am surprised that Amsterdam didn’t rate higher as in the past it has hovered around the Top 5 for various airport awards.
One of the problems I feel with voting in Airport awards and surveys is that when people vote for things they will often vote for their own cities or what they feel is known best to them.
Many in the Top 10 have huge populations to draw votes from.
What do you think is the best airport in the world? Would love to hear your views.
