In what is becoming quite common in the world of airlines, another celebrity has signed on to be face of a new campaign. This time Etihad Airways have signed Nicole Kidman to front their “Flying Reimagined” promotion.
As reported by our friends over at Australian Business Traveller the TV spot was shot onboard Etihad’s flagship Airbus A380 and in a number of locations around the world, including various landmarks in Abu Dhabi and France.
“Etihad Airways is constantly pushing boundaries, taking inspiration from the world to provide a superlative in-flight experience for our guests” explains Peter Baumgartner, Etihad Airways Chief Commercial Officer.
“We are rewriting the rule book and reimagining flying by breaking away from convention and leading the way in innovation, design, style and hospitality. This new campaign has succeeded brilliantly in bringing our unique brand and service ethos to life on film, in print and on digital channels.”
While I am not personally a fan of Nicole Kidman the photos are stunning and she certainly fits their target market for premium Etihad product and the clientele they’re trying to attract. Makes me wonder however what Dannii Minogue thinks of this new campaign as she has been part of their campaigns the last couple of years. Was it hurting their brand and image by using her as an Ambassador? I’m a huge fan of Dannii’s but even I was surprised she was signed up to Etihad to promote their products.
Will this campaign encourage me to fly Etihad or recommend it to my clients? No, not at all. I am already a frequent traveller with Etihad and think their on board product and service are at the top of the list of airlines I always suggest (even in Economy).
