According to the LHW website, only 4 Australian hotels make the cut
- Hayman Island
- The Observatory Sydney
- Taj Blue Hotel Sydney
- Wolgan Valley Resort, Lithgow (WHERE?!) Yeah yeah ..some tiny place in NSW
Very surprised with these as I haven’t heard good things about Hayman for years, though they are renovating at the moment. My memory of it is in the same vein as the Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas back in the Skase days….dated and very 80’s. And for the prices they charged BEFORE the renovations, it would need be a palace afterwards for me to even contemplate staying a night.
However different choices from the Five Star Alliance website with 34 choices including
- Four Seasons Sydney
- Henry Jones Art Hotel Hobart
- Park Hyatt Melbourne
- Palazzo Versace Gold Coast
- Langham Melbourne
- Shangri-La Cairns
among the mix.
Have only seen the rooms at the Park Hyatt and Langham Melbourne out of these….and both ok.
What is your choice for the Leading Hotel in Australia?
Are you surprised that Park Hyatt Sydney (overlooking the Harbour and Opera House) didn’t make the cut?
Qualia at Hamilton Island?
