Hotel Review: Grand Hotel Europa Palace Sorrento, Italy

Background: As only staying for one night I wanted something close to everything as well as a great pool area and a good rate hence my choice.

Location: The hotel is only an easy 5 min walk to the main Piazza with shops and places to eat. It was a straight road and easy and safe feeling walk
The hotel overlooks the Bay of Naples which is just simply stunning, and the gardens and pool area were well maintained and lovely.

Reception: Reception was quick and easy with an upgrade from a garden view to a Balcony with Sea view room. No credit card needed as room was pre paid which was a surprise. Girls at the desk as well as the Porter were friendly and they said our room was ready at 1pm.

Room: Our room wasn’t ready when we were given the keys, however they got the cleaners straight away and it was done in 10 mins.
The room itself was very small and very dated, with a double bed, small desk, very dated but authentic bathroom and a tiny balcony with a chair and table.
Only one power point so hard to charge things all at once.
Shower area was difficult to use with the shower head over the bath quite old and water pressure not the best.
Bed quite hard and pillows not very comfortable
TV was old style and didn’t use it.

Pool Area: A really long walk down a scary tunnel led to what is the sensational massive pool area, though paying for a swimming cap a little ridiculous! Plenty of lounges, lifeguard and gorgeous view of the bay.

Terrace: Breakfast and drinks served on the terrace and just a wonderful atmosphere. Attentive staff and the usual buffet items on offer.

I would stay again at a good rate, however the larger villas looked better and more spacious. The location alone and the pool/view is enough to book again and forget the dated room.

Rating: 5 for view 1 for room
