Hotel Review: Crown Promenade Stay 1

Booked into Crown Promenade for one night just to get out of the house!
Booked with Crown directly as you do get a discount if you are a Crown club member. I had the choice of a standard room or a Corner King room for an extra $50, so I went with the second option.

Our room was on the 18th floor with double windows and a wonderful view of the city.
The room was a Smoking room, however smelt fresh and very clean.

CHECK IN: Very quick service and pleasant staff. Was in and out within 2 mins. No concierge present to take my bag however. They also ask what paper you would like delivered in the morning. Late check out of 11am which is quite good.

ROOM: The room is a standard Melbourne hotel size, with King Bed, Desk, mini bar with lots of extras that many hotels don’t have, normal TV (not plasma). The bathroom was very clean, shower big enough for 2 people. Water pressure good. No rooms at this hotel have baths or spa except 2 suites per floor.
Lighting is quite dim and nowhere near bright enough. Great ottoman beside the window. Free magazines (a selection of titles) to read and enjoy.
TV has most cable channels as well as free to air. In house movies and Playstation games available for a fee as well as Internet.

ROOM SERVICE: Very large choice of items and very reasonably priced. There is a bell on the door which rings when room service has arrived. Service was standard (1/2 hour) though food was luke warm both times.

FACILITIES: As part of the Crown complex there is everything from food, shopping to gambling, cinemas etc etc Something for everyone.

BREAKFAST: Full buffet at Mesh. Excellent choice of hot and cold foods, with made to order eggs and omelette’s. Staff were slow to bring coffee around, and I found that the tables were so close together you could hear everything other people were saying. You do not get to choose where to sit.

VALET PARKING: was included in our package. Took around 1/2 hour to get the car out when we were leaving.

Would I stay here again?
No…I would rather pay the extra and stay at Crown Towers. It is way over priced and I would like a bath/spa for the price we paid…especially paying the difference for a Corner Room. The only difference is you get an extra window!! (not extra space!)
The rooms are clean, but very little ambiance…I would have been happier sleeping in the corridors which are very lush, great colour schemes and artwork and a warmer feeling.
